I'm building a flight simulator

I've been involved in Flight Simulation as a hobby for a number of years.  I've gotten to the point where I'd like something a bit more realistic than instruments on a computer monitor.  As someone recently pointed out, there's no mouse in a real cockpit.

I intend to build everything from scratch.  No pre-built simulation hardware.  I'd also like to to look as real as possible.  The result should look something like this:

I'm taking it a step at a time and learning as I go. I'll be posting to this blog as a record of progress,
